This practice can help Transitioners to slow down and return to our creativity and sense of belonging to Earth. The human imagination is a precious aspect of our aliveness that is often suppressed or colonized by schooling, social media and other distractions. Our imagination is actually part of Earth’s psyche! Together we can weave new stories of now, as well as remember the ancient stories from a time before industrialization.

Some ideas to practise Earth-centric Storytelling

The practice of Earth-centric Storytelling, in its essence, is about shifting consciousness from human to Earth-centric and from human time to deep time. It is about awakening our imagination, our generativity and our ability to respond from resource. By listening deeply to the voices of land, weather, and the living relationships between the Wild Others and with humans, we begin to hear the stories embedded in the Earth herself. This invites us to move beyond the strategic mind that wants to fix things into the perception of the heart, where intuition speaks clearly through our imaginal capacity. Stories become maps for how we might tend future worlds made of generative ways of being.

This practice creates a space for connection- remembering we are never alone- we have Earth and each other. When we have connection, change is possible- awakening from our old too small stories of what is happening in the world today. Storytelling and imagination are resources for responding creatively to these times- imagining what is possible and even what we think is impossible, leaping into a co-creative practice with each other, which is rooted in our belonging to Earth.

Join the events

Every first week of the month we hold a specific webinar on a Transition Practice with a guest. On the third Tuesday of each month there is a collective wisdom sharing space. We align the theme of the webinars and the sharing space each month. The webinars take the form of workshops led by individual facilitators, while the Collective Wisdom space functions as an open space where everyone can share their learnings and experiences, from their unique contexts. This space encourages discussion and connection with others in the wider Transition movement. These two spaces complement each other and each can be attended as a one-off event.
