Some ideas to practise Designing for Health applying Healthy Human Culture

The practice of Designing for Health helps us identify what sources a particular action or circumstance, what perspective is informing it: moving between subjective (inner, consciousness) and objective (structural, functional, organisational) and between individual and collective.

We can map what is influencing or informing our agency, and also shift towards a balance that feels healthier.

It helps us determine if we are moving towards health or towards unhealth, and what actions are needed to keep on moving towards health.

It further helps us identify and design helpful feedback from the system on what is healthier and what is unhealthier in the particular context we're exploring.

This practice is a design framework based on a map that tracks where we - our organisation, project, outcome, circumstance - currently are located along axes of health, and a guide to determine how we know we're not in health and what health looks like for our particular system, be it for ourselves, in our family, community, organisation, government, movement, etc.

It is part of the wider framework of Healthy Human Culture (HHC): a set of understandings and practices developed by Sophy Banks that help create relationships, communities and societies where all beings can thrive.

Healthy Human Culture explains why we create harm even when we don’t mean to, and how we can address this with compassionate and effective action.

Designing for Health has been applied to different contexts.
