A Change Up Meeting (Junta de cambio) is a valuable practice for transitioners as it provides a structured way for communities to discuss and improve their collective processes efficiently. This meeting format supports open communication and problem-solving, giving everyone a voice and the opportunity to participate actively. By offering a regular space to make adjustments, it empowers transitioners to take ownership of ongoing projects and address challenges swiftly.

Some ideas to practise Change Up Meeting (Junta de Cambio)

The practice itself is a short, focused group meeting, typically lasting no longer than 30 minutes. It allows all participants to share observations about what aspects of their process could be enhanced or changed.

A visual board is used to capture these insights, making issues and potential improvements visible to everyone. This setup encourages a clear and shared understanding of priorities.

During the meeting, participants propose ideas without engaging in prolonged debates. The focus is on streamlining the process and reaching actionable steps quickly. Proposals are noted, and decisions are made collaboratively, ensuring everyone is heard without getting bogged down in discussions. The aim is to create proposals that can be tested and evaluated over short timeframes, allowing the group to see results, learn, and adapt.

Over eight years of weekly practice in various intentional communities, Change Up Meetings have consistently helped participants implement meaningful improvements. Regular feedback and visible results provide a solid foundation of trust in the process, showing that this practice not only works but fosters a culture of continuous growth and collaboration within transitioning communities.
